Feasibility investigation of the new generation Audi Q7 domestic project, Audi A6L is produced on the same platform

After the Q3 model is domestically produced this year, Audi will also put into production the A3 sedan version of the fifth model in China at the end of the year. FAW-Volkswagen Audi’s sales department executive once said: After the Volkswagen Foshan plant is put into production, Audi’s production capacity in China will reach 700,000 in 2015, and Audi will need 5-6 products to support it. By the end of this year, Audi has 5 domestic models in China, and FAW-Volkswagen Audi will also produce a new model in the future. [The latest spy photos of the new Audi Q7 SUV have been exposed]

A few days ago, a FAW-Volkswagen Audi product planning insider revealed to the network news agency: Audi is evaluating the feasibility of the domestic project of the Q7. This evaluation model is not a current model for sale, but the next generation Q7. Based on the Audi MLB vertical modular platform, the next generation Q7 can be produced on the same platform as the A6L, which also makes the domestic production of the Q7 more operable.

The next generation uses the same MLB vertical modular platform as the A6L

At present, the Audi Q7 model has been introduced into China since 2006. After several modifications, the product life of the car is approaching the replacement cycle. In addition, Audi has carried out disguised road tests of the next generation Q7 model in overseas markets to prepare for the launch of the new car. In addition, the next generation Q7 model will be based on the new MLB vertical modular platform, which will share the platform with the next generation of domestic models such as the A4L and A6L that will be replaced in the future, which will also make it more convenient for the Q7 model to be put into production in China.

Audi Q7 price difference between China and European markets is huge

In terms of price, the price of the Audi Q5 European gasoline version model that has been produced in China is 42,000 euros (about 350,000 yuan), and the domestic production of the Q5 entry-level model is 358,500 yuan, which is almost the same as the overseas market price, and the Chinese market model configuration is higher. On the other hand, the Audi Q7 gasoline version entry-level model still sold in the form of imports is priced at 65,000 euros (about 530,000 yuan), while the domestic market price is as high as 902,800 yuan. Obviously, after the Q7 model is domestically produced, the price will have nearly 300,000 room to explore.

Q7 supports Audi’s 25% share of imported cars in China

The domestic production of Audi Q7 can not only achieve a comprehensive increase in sales in China, but also make up for the current gap in product price. In the existing product lineup, the top model of imported medium-sized SUV-Q5 is priced at 658,000, and there is a blank price range of more than 250,000 yuan between the entry-level model of Audi Q7 and 902,800 yuan. After the Q7 is domestically produced, it is expected to fill the above price range.

According to Audi’s previous official data, Audi’s sales of imported models in China in 2012 were 83,138, of which the highest sales volume was Audi Q7, reaching 21,360, an increase of 10% year-on-year, and accounting for 25% of the total sales of imported cars. Among Audi’s domestic models in China in the early stage, the biggest factor is that there must be sales, and Audi Q7 models have obviously met this requirement.

Audi is already the brand with the most domestically produced luxury brands in China. The Q3, Q5, A4L and A6L models fully cover the current mainstream luxury car market segments. With the addition of the domestically produced A3 within the year and the expected Q7 two years later, this product matrix will be more competitive. Coupled with the increasing demand for luxury SUVs in the Chinese market, the domestic production of the Q7 will help Audi deepen new areas in the Chinese local market.
