Powerful showstopper! Try Ford Sharp 2.0GTDi.
In fact, I have said so much before, and the most important thing is the test drive experience. The performance of the new 2.0GTDi in terms of power is worthy of recognition. No matter the book data of the engine or the test drive power performance, I think it is better than the 3.5V6 model. The maximum output of this 2.0GTDi engine is 179kW(240Ps)/5500rpm, the maximum output is amazing 345 N m/3500, and the torque burst range is 1750-4000rpm. The maximum output power of that 3.5L V6 is 212kW(288Ps)/6500rpm, and the maximum output torque is 336 N m/4000 rpm.
Although the maximum power of the 2.0GTDi is not higher than that of the 3.5L V6 engine, the maximum output power is earlier than that of the 3.5 model only at 5500rpm, and the torque is completely won.
In fact, the actual driving experience can also verify this point. It is also a static state to accelerate the start, and 2.0GTDi intervenes at 2000rpm. At this time, the power of the engine begins to output continuously, which lasts until about 4000rpm. In this process, you can obviously feel the feeling of pushing back. On the other hand, the engine of the 3.5L V6 model has been linear since the start, and the linear acceleration process of the large-displacement naturally aspirated engine is incomparable with that of the turbocharged engine. However, because the torque of 345N·m only erupts at 3500rpm, the actual feeling is that 2.0GDTi is more intense.
This time, a brand-new gearbox was specially prepared for the 2.0GTDi. After consulting the information, I didn’t find any other Ford model equipped with this gearbox. The biggest difference between it and the 3.5L V6 model is that it doesn’t have manual mode, and it is completely 6-Speed automatic transmission. It is also clearly indicated in official website that only the 2.0GTDi model is equipped with this gearbox named 6-speed automatic. If considering the cost, it’s ok to use this 6-speed inverter, but why not use Ford’s most advanced dual clutch or the most common 6-speed automatic gearbox with manual mode? This is still a question.
In the publicity materials, Ford didn’t make any introduction to this gearbox, even didn’t mention this brand-new gearbox. The staff of Ford’s auxiliary products said that this is a brand-new 6-speed automatic gearbox, and the gear ratio has been adjusted and so on. In order to achieve the best fuel consumption and emission performance, this gearbox is only matched with the EcoBoost engine. It has to be said that Ford may be tailor-made for better fuel consumption performance.
The ride comfort of this 2.0GTDi has been reflected in the previous tests. It still performs well in the sharp world, and it is difficult to detect that it is working at idle speed. It is exaggerated to say that it is difficult to detect the slightest vibration. In addition to the excellent engine itself, it depends on a strong sound insulation design. In order to create a comfortable driving environment for the members in the cab, Ford has really made great efforts in this respect. Even when driving at a speed of 120km/h, the noise level is still very ideal. Except for wind noise and slight tire noise, you can hardly hear other noises, which is really rare in my car.
The 2.0GTDi model performed well at high speed, and the power spewed out as soon as the engine speed reached 2000rpm. The 6-speed gearbox downshifted actively at full throttle acceleration, and the whole acceleration interval lasted to about 4000rpm. At this time, the difference between the small-displacement supercharged engine and the large-displacement naturally aspirated engine was revealed. After 4000rpm, the power output of the 2.0GTDi engine weakened, while the 3.5V6 continued to accelerate, and the whole acceleration process was very linear, while 2.0.
While driving at low speed, the sharp performance of the 2.0GTDi is not much different from that of the 3.5V6 model, and even the 2.0GTDi will be better, mainly because its turbocharging starts at 1750rpm, that is, it starts to intervene at the beginning, and large torque is generated quickly, so the 2.0GTDi has a light feeling instead of feeling heavy like the 3.5V6 model.
Ford also designed the variable opening function of the front grille for Sharp. At low speed, the air intake grille of the middle net is closed, and the air flow will pass through the grille under the bumper, so that the engine can be insulated and the working efficiency of the engine can be improved. On the contrary, at high speed, the middle net and the lower inlet grille will be opened at the same time, so that the airflow can pass through from top to bottom at the same time, cooling the engine and turbocharger. This technology claims to save 1%-2% fuel.
Speaking of fuel consumption, this is the key to consider this 2.0GTDi engine. After two days of long-distance driving, the comprehensive fuel consumption displayed by the computer is about 11L/100km, including high-speed cruising at 130km/h, Panshan Road with a steep slope (frequent overtaking) and short-distance road conditions. In the end, the average fuel consumption of 11L really exceeded our expectations. Don’t forget that Sharp’s car weighs about 1.9 tons, and the total weight of two adult men exceeds 2 tons. It is indeed worthy of recognition to achieve such fuel consumption performance.
Generally speaking, the performance of this 2.0GTDi engine carried by Sharp is still relatively good. As Ford advertised, on the basis of ensuring abundant power, it is the key to greatly reduce fuel consumption. This 2.0GTDi has indeed done it, and its power output can completely compare with that of a 3.0L displacement engine, while its fuel consumption performance is that of a 2.0L model. Many friends will struggle with the question that it is not a four-wheel drive! But I prefer to regard it as a car with a heightened chassis. Even with the four-wheel drive system, it can’t run wild like that. If you drive in the city and occasionally go out for an outing, the sharp edge of the two-wheel drive is enough.
