On January 15th, the second meeting of the 11th Congress of Staff and Workers and the 20th Congress of Trade Union Members of Tongji University was held in a combination of offline and online. The Congress thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, reviewed and summarized the development achievements of the school in the past year, promoted the in-depth implementation of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the school, and planned and deployed the high-quality development of the school. Fang Shouen, secretary of the Party Committee, Chen Jie, president of the school, and other school leaders attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Wu Guangming, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the trade union. 230 official representatives of the teachers’ congress (workers’ congress), 15 specially invited representatives and 54 non-voting representatives attended the meeting.

The conference heard the Report on the Work of Tongji University in 2021 made by Chen Jie. Chen Jie reported the school’s work in 2021 and the main work in 2022. He expressed sincere thanks to the delegates who made suggestions for the development of the school in the past year and to the faculty and staff who worked hard for the development of the school in the past year. At the preparatory meeting before the formal meeting, the school trade union made a report on the preparations for the conference.

The General Assembly voted and passed the Resolution of the Second Session of the 11th Staff Congress and the 20th Trade Union Member Congress of Tongji University. The meeting demanded that the staff congress and the trade union member congress should effectively enhance the political, advanced and mass nature of trade union organizations, guide the majority of staff to actively participate in democratic decision-making, democratic management and democratic supervision of schools, effectively protect the staff’s right to know, participate, express and supervise, safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, and play an active role in the cause of school reform and development. 2022 is a crucial year for the school to seek new development and achieve new leap in the new stage.
